notes from a global piano bar: day 71 – at sea (plus late pics of vietnam and singapore)

! i am a little excited… i don’t want to have any expectations because then i may be disappointed, so i will try to just experience it for whatever i can get out of it… i know it will be interesting… i am very intrigued by many of the ports we have coming soon that i have never been to, because i don’t know anything about most of them… i hear stuff in the news, but i really don’t have a sense of the place, or the people or the history there… why is it that i hated history in high school but now find it very interesting? same way i guess that i used to hate napping, now it’s my drug of choice since my sleep schedule is a little weird…

tonight’s theme was irish and pub songs for st. patrick’s day (“whiskey in the jar,” “danny boy,” etc.). it was formal night tonight, so i played the captain’s cocktail party early then my regular sets… i also threw in a few irish toasts and jokes for fun, and it was a pretty good night. i’m still babying my voice a little from straining it, and trying not to hurt myself further. sometimes i could use a night off, but since that is not possible, you try and make the day easy by limiting contact with folks. bob was great at being my talker today and letting me get some silence and rest.
