day 85 – at sea

i hibernated today… bob got continental breakfast for us and brought it to the room, and i wrote and worked on songs and sets in the room today… had some extra rest, and didn’t emerge ‘til i went up to see bob’s early set (4:30 -5:30)… it was so good i think i’ll do it again tomorrow!  i thought we would have two more sea days after today, but the captain came on to tell us that they had restored one of our originally scheduled (but recently cancelled) egyptian stops to the port of safaga – there will be no stop in cairo because there is still some unrest going on, but the tourist sites near safaga are good to go, and security is in place for people to come back… we’ll be quite welcome, actually, as they have been missing the tourism dollars for quite some time now… everyone is quite excited to have at least one egypt port, and since we went so fast through pirate central, we will be in plenty of time before jordan and it won’t disrupt the rest of the schedule… way to go captain!

i was scheduled to do the guest open mic on that night that is now egypt, but will have to postpone it til after egypt and jordan…the tours there will be 11 hours long to see luxor, temple of karnak, stuff like that, and the people will be tuckered out… the tours offered will prohibit bob from being able to go on one since he has to work early, but i am going to try and squeak one in… i would barely get back in time to go on at 7, but i don’t know when i’ll get the chance to go to egypt again, so i put my name in the hat for an escort spot – if i am not picked, bob and i will hang in the port town and see what there is to see…

my theme tonight was a repeat from first half, “never say never” with songs referencing times with words in the title like never, yesterday, when, etc… a bit obtuse, but it was a good set list anyway.  i don’t have too many more to go as i go through my prep list… i can’t believe how fast it’s going! 

i picked up a bottle of sparkling wine when i was in new zealand, and bob and i chilled it down during our evening sets tonite… we got some oj from my bartender, some fruit and cheese from room service and kicked back to have mimosas and movie time… a quality hang!      ciao for now! -me
