sunrise over mosque on suez canal |
we woke up at 6am to witness entering the suez canal… the sun came up about 6:30, egyptian africa on one side, egyptian asia on the other… we took a few pics, tried to go back to bed and couldn’t sleep… so we got our laundry all done, always a victorious feeling! we took occasional pics at various stages of the canal passage throughout the day, had lunch, took a great nap, and bob got up in time to take a few snaps of us exiting at port said into the mediterranean sea! cool! onto the next chapter of our world voyage!

i’ve never been where we are about to go – i’ve been to scandinavia and france a couple of times, but i’ve never done anything in the mediterranean before! i am sad my brother dave won’t be able to join, but we are already making a new plan for 2012… i am also checking out some fall dates for dan and gwen, so the adventures should continue!
i am going through some major nino withdrawal… at least we are ess than 3 weeks now… this part is like a toilet paper roll in that the closer you get to the end, the faster it goes! more tomorrow!
piano broad, volume 3
(to the tune of billy joel’s piano man)
well it’s 8/10 o’clock on whatever day it is – the regular crowd shuffles in
& I plug in my mic & get a beverage, another piano bar evening begins
they said, hey girl can you play us a melody, like the old records we used to spin
and every formal night y’all turn out in droves and play dress up for the countries we’re in
now don at the bar is a friend of mine, he gets my ice water for free
he plays the martini shaker like percussion, & sometimes he’s louder than me!
and hermi has been your charming server, this room wouldn’t run w/o those two
w/o them we’d all go quite thirsty, so w/o them what would we all do?!
aaa la la la la la, la la la la laaaaaa la la
sing us a song you’re the piano broad here on the old amsterdam
and we’re all in the mood for a melody, so sing us a song won’t you ma’am

our last episode left off in australia , and we’ve picked up some new friends along the way
and my hubby came on in old hong kong, so every day since then’s been a great day
from new guinea and all the way to petra , we’ve had fun in asia and the middle east
we’ve seen ruins and temples and lots of cool stuff – it’s truly been a moveable feast
and getting that extra day in manila sure gave my crew friends a nice buzz
hong kong was awesome because bob arrived, and i don’t remember anything more
in viet nam i had to stay on all day but we partied hard in singapore
cochi was one of bob’s and my favorites, what a feast and a very special day
in mumbai i had fun going out with friends, and if i don’t do dubai again that’s ok
it was a little scary in oman , cause bob and i like to kiss and hold hands
even though we had fun, i’m not sure i’d wanna hang out in a place where affection is banned
the captain put Egypt back on the menu, i think everyone here was relieved
and of course going to petra was beyond compare, such scenery is hard to believe

we’ve had a couple of great open mic nights, and we’ll have one more before we go home
so i encourage those of you who haven’t taken part yet, to do a dance or a song or a poem
our time together grows ever shorter, so we must get the most from each day
i appreciate your warmth and your kindness, it makes my job more enjoyable than i can say
and now for some shameless self promotion, please don’t forget to go buy my cd
it’s in the gift shop down the hall where the booze is and if you just go look then you will see
that it’s cheaper by 5 dollars than all the others, that’s a value, now you can’t deny
and it’s small and flat and fits well in your suitcase, so go get one, they’re in short supply!

we’ll be recapping all of the port songs on the way home with a recorder and a few mics
and i’ll upload them to an internet site so you can download the ones that you like
if you want to get on my mailing list, leave your email or your business card
or you can always find me on facebook, ask your kids how, it really isn’t hard
i’m excited to go through the suez with you and get to the mediterranean sea
i know we’ll all have a good time there though i think it’ll go too fast for me
this is the longest voyage i’ve ever done, and your nightly support’s been a hit
without all your crowd participation, my songs would have ended up sounding like sh-
